Today I decided to take inspiration from Instagram’s #2016BestNine and put a little twist of my own on it. Day in, day out we see new beauty products launching and to be honest sometimes it can get a little hectic, even for a beauty lover like me.
This post is going to strip it back and focus on the Best (in my humble opinion) Nine Beauty Products from 2016! From all the new launches and products that were new to me in 2016 which ones stand out to me the most?! Narrowing them down to nine is going to be a tough one, wish me luck!!
Starting off with tanning products, there are really two stand out products for me.
My all time favourite and the mother of all instant tans has to be Vita Liberata’s Body Blur. This has changed my tanning game. It gives the most unbelievable glow and makes even my less than perfect pins look pretty good. You can read my full review here but trust me you won’t be disappointed.
A tanning brand that was new to me in 2016 is Bellamianta. I absolutely detest sleeping in fake tan so to have a tan that I can wash off after a short time is a must for me. Bellamianta not only develops in only two hours but it also wears off beautifully, has a really natural golden glow and can be built up to create your desired shade. My full review of the lotion is here but just to be aware my preferred formulation would be the mousse but the lotion is pretty fab too, especially for drier skins.
Moving on to makeup products which is where the bulk of my favourites lie! Wet N Wild really upped their game in 2016. Keeping up with their latest launches was a pretty hefty task but one item absolutely stands out amongst the rest. The MegaGlo Contouring Palette in Dulce De Leche has quickly become my favourite EVER contour product!! And I don’t say that lightly! The palette includes a matte contour and highlight shade that blend effortlessly, look super flattering on even the palest of skins and lasts all day long. For only €5.95 this is most definitely one that you should invest in if you are looking to contour away that overindulgence from the holidays! You can read about this and more of the Wet N Wild 2016 launches here.
I bet you guessed that this next product would be making an appearance. Honestly, 2016 has found me some of my favourite beauty products ever and Sleek Makeup’s Solstice Highlight palette is definitely amongst them. Glowing perfection for a teeny tiny price is how I would describe this palette. Read my full review here. Lads, if you haven’t seen this one, you are missing out!
Too Faced “Better Than Sex Mascara” is, without a doubt the best mascara I have found! What can I say? The brush is designed to capture every single lash so it gives me volume like no other mascara I have tried while at the same time adding length and separation . Some people may think this mascara is OTT but when it comes to my lashes I like them full of volume so this works for me. I do not like this on my bottom lashes though, it looks too clumpy! I do also have to say. When this mascara is brand new I am not a big fan of it. It is too wet and as a result can get very messy. I prefer using this after it has dried out a tad! This for sure is when the magic starts. It isn’t the cheapest of mascaras that’s for sure but the packaging alone shows the quality, not to mention that formula!!! Trust me, this is one for the wish list. This mascara is available from Debenhams (online here).
I got the Too Faced Chocolate bar palette at the end of 2015 but for real, this is the only palette I used for most of 2016 on myself! If you are a fan of nude eyeshadows and love a good warm smokey eye then I have a feeling you might enjoy this. It has everything I need to create a day look and for night time it allows me to smoke up an eye in an instant. The only thing it lacks is a black! This is available again from Debenhams.
2016 left we longing for a new favourite foundation and concealer! Nothing ticked all the boxes for me when it came to these two products. However, I did find a powder that wowed me somewhat. I hate to say this is a favourite of mine because it is so darn expensive but the steep price tag can be justified once you have tried it! Laura Mercier’s Loose Setting Powder in the shade Translucent is pure luxury. It does it’s job of setting your makeup very well while adding a beautiful finish to the skin. Another one I have reviewed fully on my blog so for more deets please feel free to take a look here.
Liquid Liner is the enemy for sure! So when I find one that makes my life easier, stays in place all day and looks super black I am one happy lady. The Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper has it all. It is everything I could want in a liner and the precise, flexible nib makes creating a winged liner a doddle. I am a huge fan! Again, Debenhams is where you will find this. You would think I was sponsored by Debenhams lol!
So the last item I want to fill you all in on is something that I wouldn’t expect to be including in my yearly favourites but it is one that changed my beauty routine. La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra Contour Yeux is an exceptional product. This is simply an eye gel that contains zero anti aging products but is so gentle, hydrating and soothing on the eyes. I formed an irritation during the year and I could use nothing on my eyes apart from this and it really cleared them up. If you suffer from dry or sensitive eyes this is for you. Also, it can be applied all over the eyes without any problems so great for anyone that has troublesome eyelids. My makeup sits so well over this and it even gets rid of my dehydration lines which is a huge plus for me. This is a stand out product for me for 2016. This retails for €19 and is available in pharmacies nationwide or you can buy it online here.
So there we have it. My #2016BestNine Beauty Products? Now, tell me, what are your stand out beauty products from 2016? Are any of the ones I mentioned above a favourite of yours?
