When it comes to writing blog posts I have been on a go slow lately. Not because my mind is not into it but just because I am super busy. Those that follow me on Snapchat (Username: Ninicoote) will know exactly what I get up to on a daily basis.
To get myself back in the game and to share with you some of the beauty bits I have fallen for over the past few weeks here are my Top Ten Current Beauty Favourites.
Number One: Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent. This is probably one of the most inexpensive setting powders I have ever used but boy is it one of the best!! At only €5.99 a pop this stuff keeps my foundation shine free and looking perfect for most of the day. Oily skins may need to reapply throughout the day but take my word, you won’t find much better than this for keeping oil at bay, even from the higher priced brands. Best thing is! It’s available almost everywhere so it is so easy to get your hands on!
Number Two: Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara is not available in Europe (Damn it!) but if anyone is hitting the states or knows anyone that is then ask them to pick this mascara up for you. It is very reasonably priced and gives a false lash effect in one sweep! Two sweeps and your lashes are just perfection. The wand id slightly curved so it allows you to really get in to the root of the lash and add lots of extra volume and drama. One complaint I have is the one I got is not waterproof so any teary or running eyes and you will have black tears running down your face. Learn from my mistakes. Get the waterproof version!
Number Three: Catrice Cosmetics Liquid Camoflague High Coverage Concealer is my new favourite. It does exactly what the name suggests. It gives serious coverage but in a liquid form so it is not thick or heavy looking, even under the eyes. I don’t find this sits in my many fine lines and it definitely does cover my dark circles very well. I do think it still needs to be set with a powder though.
My favourite one for setting under eyes is Mac Prep+Prime Translucent Finishing powder. The concealer is less than €4 and is available in Penney’s and selected pharmacies throughout the country.
Number Four: I love full brows and to achieve this without them looking over done I love to use the Billion Dollar Brow powder in Taupe. This is simply just a pot of brow powder but the colour is a perfect match for me and it lasts really well all day on my brows without wearing off. It is also really easy to blend and looks very natural. I do know girls with darker hair and lighter hair than me that can get away with using the shade Taupe too so it seems to be pretty universal. There are other shades available though. It is a little on the expensive side at €25 for one pot but I do think this will change up your brow game if you use it. You can buy this from selected Boots store or Online here. They also have a lovely kit available for €34 which includes this powder and a double ended brow brush. Much better value as the brushes are really great too. You can check this kit out here.
Number Five: I was unsure about the Urban Decay Gwen Steffani blush palette as I wasn’t sure if I would get much use from it but I am really loving it lately. There are six shades in this which includes four blushes ranging in colour from a soft dusty pink to a deeper plum,a warm contour shade and a beautiful highlighter. I actually use them all, even the darker shades because I find that you can build up the pigment instead of them looking to intense straight off. I really like this quality in a blush!
I will do a more indepth review of this but for now you can just know that I am a huge fan of it and would definitely recommend taking a closer look if its something that tickles your fancy. You can buy Urban Decay from most Debenhams stores. I did try find this online but I cannot seem to find it. It costs around €46 for the palette.
Number Six: My favourite lipgloss ever is from Mac. It is Ample Pink Plushglass. This is just a medium pink gloss but it is super long wearing and adds a lovely fullness to your lips. I am wearing this so much lately because it is fuss free and I know it will always look well.
I love these themed with Mac Patisserie lipstick or Angel for a pinker look. This would be my top pick for a bride as well as it just gives subtle colour that shows up in photos without looking too OTT in person. These are €22 and are available at any Mac counter.
Number Seven: To wash off all of this makeup I am loving using Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. This a cult favourite and one I have used on and off for many years. The reasons I start using it again is because my skin is very sensitive of late and I know this will not irritate it further and also because I was looking for something to really deep clean my skin and when I use the muslin cloths that are provided with the cleanser I really feel that I can scrub away all the dirt and grime from the day. This is available in a small amount of pharmacies and boots stores but I like to buy mine online as it is much cheaper. I got the large 200ml cleanse and polish, the toner, moisturiser and muslin cloths plus a full size shampoo and conditioner free and free delivery to Ireland all for €59. Seriously bargain. They always have offers on each month. You can check out the latest offers on their website. I will also do a full review at a later point.
Number Eight: I have had a huge problem with a breakout on my eye lately. It was caused by a reaction to a product in college and it has turned into eczema now. It causes me a lot of discomfort and irritation and the only thing that seems to have settled it is this eye lotion from La Roche Posay. The Toleriane Ultra Contour Yeux really helps to hydrate the area without irritating it and it also really calms any redness too. It can also be used on the eye lid so it is perfect for anyone that suffers from dryness there too. Besides all of this it is actually a really great eyecream too and I think anyone that is suffering from dehydrated eyes will benefit immensely from this product. A lot of the time fine lines around the eyes are caused from dehydration and not aging and this cream will help with this. It does not contain any anti aging ingredients though. This is around €20 for 20ml and it is available in pharmacies and Boots stores that sells the brand.
Number Nine: Another current love of mine is the Grapefruit and May Chang Body Butter from The Handmade Soap Company. This is not your typical body butter. It comes solid in the jar and you have to scrape out what you need and then rub it together in your hands to warm it and melt the product.
It goes on to your skin like a rich oil then. Granted this is a little more of an effort than a normal body butter but your skin is so soft and hydrated afterwards that it is worth the extra few minutes. This is available to buy in lots of stockists throughout the country and also online here.
Number Ten: Mermaid nails are the latest nail trend in Ireland and I am all over them. Anyone I can get my hands on to do nails on are getting mermaid nails. If you have a nail tech that you go to regularly be sure to ask them can they do these for you. You are going to love them especially for the Summer days which are slowly creeping in.
So that is pretty much it. Some high end and some less expensive beauty favourite of mine. Have you found anything lately that you are loving? I would love to hear about them so I can add them to my wishlist. I love trying new things? Have any of the items I mentioned above tickled your fancy? Let me know in the comments below.
Have a great day everyone and happy shopping
