I love nothing more than a romantic stroll amongst the makeup aisles in Boots. I always like to try new stuff, whether it be something new on the market or something that I have just never tried before. Bringing my readers decent and honest reviews is my top priority for Adorn.ie and to do that I need to shop!! Did I justify my addiction to shopping just there?!!!!
Anyway, below are all the bits I bought during my recent visit to Boots. I didn’t pick up loads but I did get some great little bits to try out….as ever, let me know if you want an indepth review on any of them.
I specifically went to Boots to pick up the SEVENTEEN Stay Time Foundation. I had heard that this stuff was really high coverage without looking cakey so I wanted to give it a go. I love a nice full coverage foundation for my extra bad skin days.
When I swatched it in store I was actually shocked at how much coverage this gave me. So of course I had to give it a go.
I won’t say too much but I am LOVING this so far. It has some pros and some cons but overall I am left impressed……….more about that later in a review post!! Oh by the way I got the shade Natural and it costs €8.19.
The best thing about Boots is that there is always some sort of offer on. SEVENTEEN had an offer of “Buy one, get one half price” so of course I had to pick up something else. I decided to go with their Define & Conquer contour kit because I had heard both good and bad reviews about this product so I had to test it out myself.
In this kit you get two shades. A light one which is for highlighting and the darker is for contouring. You also get a step by step guide on how to contour. There are two shades of this kit available and I got the lightest(fair). I wouldn’t be the palest of girls and this shade suits me great so I am not so sure it would work well for very fair skins.
Both powders are completely matte. The lightest shade is a nice setting powder for under your eyes, especially if you are a fan of that brighter under eye trend. This kit will set you back €7.59 when on full price which is very reasonable in my eyes.
Rimmel also had a special on and I needed to get a new nude liner so I used this as my opportunity. I love the Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal especially in the shade Nude. I use this in my waterline to really help open up my eyes and make me look much more refreshed and awake.
The shade is almost like a concealer shade so instantly corrects any redness you have along the waterline. In general these liners are super and definitely worth a look and best of all they only cost €4.99
I really wanted to try the nail polishes from the latest Rita Ora and Rimmel collab. The colours scream Summer and seems as the finer weather is creeping in I knew I would want bright nails on both my hands and feet. The 60 second super shine polish in “Roll in the grass” really caught my attention. Not only is this a pretty colour but the quality of the polish is really great too. They definitely dry super fast and I find they last without chipping on my nails for around 3 days. These polishes come in a wide range of shades and are €4.49 for one.
My last purchase from Rimmel was their Kate Matte Lipstick in shade 101. I have seen this talked about time and time again but never purchased it so when I seen the brand was on 3 for 2 I thought I would give it a go.
The shade to me is a dusky pink with cool undertones. It isn’t completely matte but it does give off a beautiful finish. It is also very opaque with lots of coverage so depending on what you are looking for you could sheer it out by adding a small amount with a gloss over it. It is pale and pink enough to be worn as a full on lip or as a more everyday shade by applying lightly which is what I bought it for. These lippies are €6.99 a pop and really are very high quality and buttery to apply.
So when I paid for my bits and bobs I got a voucher for €6.50 off No7 skincare and €4 off makeup. The lady at the till told me that No7 had just launched their latest Early Defence range which is aimed at 25-35 year olds. I had a look at the range and thought it looked very impressive and I knew I was in the market for a new eye cream so I decided to give this one a shot. This is 17.50 but with my €6.50 off it only cost me €11.
This range is designed to help young skin stay younger for longer by boosting its natural defences. The eye cream is also said to rid under eyes of puffiness, dark circles and early stages of fine lines. I have used this for about two weeks now and I can definitely see improvements in the hydration of my under eye area. I will keep using this and be sure to report back on my results asap.
My final purchase was a highlighter from No7. I don’t tend to buy a lot from this brand but I have to say the more I looked through the range and sampled it the more I became seriously impressed with it. When I seen the Instant Radiance Highligher I thought it looks absolutely stunning and I really just had to have it.
It is a cream highlighter which comes in a stick form and it is a pinkish champagne shade. This beauty is like highlighter on steroids. I cannot believe how pigmented it is. You need the tinniest amount of this product as applying too much is way to severe but once applied lightly and blended well I have to say it is one of the nicest highlighters I have ever tried. Why has no-one told me about this before? I feel like I have being missing out. This retails for €12.95 but again I used my money off voucher so I got it for even cheaper. Have a swatch the next time you are in Boots.
So there it is, my little but very enjoyable and productive trip to Boots. Do you like any of the products you seen above? Have you tried any of them before or do you think you will be making a purchase after seeing them in action?
Have a lovely day everyone
