Are you looking for a foundation with full on coverage but on a budget? Bare with me. I may just have found what you are looking for!!
I have mentioned in previous posts that my skin is acting up lately which is driving me mad. To try make myself feel better and to make my skin look presentable I decided I would buy a high coverage foundation. I have been intrigued by the SEVENTEEN Stay Time Foundation for ages now as it was compared to the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation on several blogs so I thought this would be a great time to try it out. Read on to see my before and after pictures. I wasn’t sure if I should post the before picture because I am very conscious of my skin but I think to get the real impact of the foundation it had to be done.
So here are the deets:
Claims by SEVENTEEN: A Full coverage foundation that gives a flawless smooth finish. That lasts and lasts for up to 25 hours.
Finish: Matte finish
Texture: The product itself doesn’t feel like a very thick consistency but it feels really thick and dry as you blend it out onto the skin
Coverage: FULL coverage. This covers every imperfection I have. I would definitely say this rivals Estee Lauder Double wear for its coverage
Lasting Time: This is definitely a long wear foundation. Although it does state that it lasts for 25 hours I have never worn it for that long so I am not sure how it stands up to these claims. However, it definitely lasts me from morning until night no problem. It does have some downfalls in this department. Read on to see my verdict.
Skin Types best suited for: Drier skins will not like this that is for sure. It tends to cling to areas where there are fine lines. It even does this to me and my skin is not dry in all areas. I would say this is best suited to people with oilier skin types
SPF: 25 which is pretty decent for such an inexpensive foundation
Price: €8.19 for 30ml and the brand is usually always on some sort of deal in Boots. Oh and by the way it is only available from Boots stores.
My Thoughts: There is absolutely no doubt that this foundation does what it says. It gives really full on coverage that lasts (on my combo to dehydrated skin) all day long. I do feel like my skin looks drier when I wear this as it is very matte and can often accentuate the fine lines on my face. But to be honest I find this with all matte foundations. Apart from it settling into the laughter lines around my mouth and my eyes I feel it stays in place very well throughout the day and have had no issue with it transferring.
I tend to only wear this when I know I have a really long day ahead of me and I prep my skin really well with moisurisers followed by a nice illuminating base (check out my top picks here) which will give my skin a boost of hydration that should last throughout the day and make my foundation look nicer.
I apply this foundation with a stippling type brush and work it into the skin in very thin layers, building it only in the areas I feel I need some extra coverage. I find you cannot use your fingers to apply this foundation as it really needs to be worked into the skin. Another nice way to apply this is to use a damp beauty blender or real techniques sponge. Once applied I then leave it to settle into the skin for around 10 minutes(don’t apply powder) while I eat my brekkie or dry my hair. I then go back to it with my foundation brush and I buff over the areas where it has settled into my fine lines and then immediately set it with powder. This definitely does help it crease less during the day.
I know this all sounds like a lot of work for a foundation and I have no doubt, it is. But I do think the coverage and staying power that this foundation gives is amazing, especially for the price! So if you are on a budget and looking to achieve a flawless, matte complexion then the SEVENTEEN stay time foundation is a great place to start. I would leave it for the days when you have the time to really apply it correctly though otherwise you might end up having to visit the bathroom to blend in the areas where it has creased!!
The shade range available in this foundation is very limited. It only has around six shades to choose from. I have heard a lot of people say there isn’t an exact match for their skin available. I was lucky enough to find that the shade natural suits me relatively well.
One last point to make is that I think the packaging of this foundation is pretty cool. It is a pump dispenser that only pumps a small amount (which is all you need) and the pump can be locked which means that you won’t have any accidents with this spilling everywhere, of course if you lock it that is. I like that it is high shine plastic packaging so easy to clean down but I do wish I could see how much product was left so that I know when I am near the end.
You can probably tell I have mixed views of this product. I feel it does meet it’s claims really well and does have a lot of positives but it can be a little bit time consuming to apply which won’t suit everyone.
Have you tried this foundation? What are your thoughts on it? I would love to hear your experience.
Have a great day whatever you are getting up to!
Thanks for stopping by.
