My 2019 Goals and Why I made them!

I said this a few times now but I am not one for all the ‘New Year, New You’ malarkey. I think we are all fabulous every day and shouldn’t need a new year to make us feel good about ourselves. However, I do think that a new year (like a new month and even a new day) brings an opportunity for a new beginning. A way of refocusing the mind and making plans to continue to improve your life, your self and your wellbeing.

2018 was a year of transition for me. A year where I faced my demons head on and grew not only in confidence but also spiritually. I am not perfect, I never will be but I am in a much better place than I was this time last year, that’s for sure. 2019 for me will be another layer to 2018. Taking what I learnt in 2018 and develop that even further as well as putting myself out of my comfort zone and trying to challenge myself.

I am going to use planners and journals as a way to stay focused, document my achievements and failures and simply to help keep myself on track. One of the planners I am using is from The Navigation Coach. It’s a very simple, no bullshit type of planner so I am curious to see if it serves me the way I want it to. If you want a blog post on my planners and journals do let me know.

So here are my 2019 goals:

To challenge myself physically

I am not a person that loves to exercise. I struggle to get going and I genuinely have (ridiculous) fears around exercise!! But I want to make peace with these feelings. To challenge myself to do something because I know the outcome will be worth while. So in 2019 myself and my boyfriend have set ourselves some fitness challenges. We will consistently do fitness events that will test us both physically and mentally. I won’t lie, I am bricking it and know I will really push myself out of my comfort zone but I am hoping I will grow from this. Plus it’s a great way to spend time with himself , although at times I am sure he will think my crazy fears are insane!! I have a three months gym membership ready to go. Signing up for a year was just too much for me right now lol. I plan to share my journey on my Instagram stories so if you are interested in watching my highs and lows you can follow me here.

By the end of 2019 I want to have a healthy, energetic and youthful body!!

To revamp our home

This is the one I am most excited about. I cannot wait to get started. Our home needs a total refurb and a modernisation so 2019 is the year that this will begin and I cannot bloody wait. We are both so excited to see how this develops and don’t worry I will share all the befores and afters with you all. This is going to be exciting. We are currently looking at flooring, panelling and door options for downstairs. This alone will totally change the vibe of the house. Roll on the messy gaff!!

To give my blog another go

In 2018 I totally lost the love for my blog. Mainly because I was really focused on trying to get my head right that I couldn’t focus on anything else. I struggled with it so bad and often tried to write a post but failed miserably because I simply was not in the right head space. I’m getting there slowly but I can feel my spark coming back and I plan to make 2019 the year where I really gave my little blog the attention it deserves. My plan is to keep it light hearted, fun and a place of happiness for everyone that follows me. I plan to share more of my life and let you all see a side to me that maybe a lot of you have never seen. This again frightens the life out of me, but remember 2019 is the year I push myself beyond my comfort zone.

So, they are the main goals for 2019….

Here are a few other goals I have already started on but want to continue in 2019

  • Rekindle lost relationships
  • Develop and nurture current relationships
  • Read more. I am already on this buzz and loving it. I would highly recommend Oprah’s ‘What I know for sure’. I listened to the audio version and it’s really great to listen to. Oprah’s voice is so uplifting.
  • Protect myself against negative energy. I am going to be pretty tough about this one. It zaps my energy and I get into a bad head space when I am around negative people. I also have to watch my own thoughts. Like us all I can be negative at times and I need to remove those thoughts as much as possible.
  • Continue to work on my mental health. I think this will always be on my list as its something that we always need to work on
  • Have lots and lots of FUN. Be adventurous. Explore new places and simply enjoy life.

Sounds like a lot right but really it isn’t. The last few I am already doing for more than 6 months so they have become second nature to me. The two main challenges for me heading into 2019 is the fitness/health goal and the blogging goals. Everything else is easy for me.

Wish me luck!!

Have you set any goals or plans in place for 2019? I would love to hear your thoughts below. Whatever you decide to do with your year I hope it is what you want it to be and if it’s not remember, there is always tomorrow. Enjoy and learn from each experience (even the bad) and you will reap the rewards.

Happy New Year Pal 🙂
