Did you think exactly like me? Potential dupe for Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Skin Protectant? Let’s see….
For anyone that isn’t aware of what this type of product is actually used for let me fill you in. This can be used for anything including relieving dry skin, sunburn, irritations and so much more. Pop along to the end of this post for a peak of some of the ways I like to use this product. It is basically a wonder cream that works to help all sorts of skin ailments.
When comparing against the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream there are some considerable differences.
The scent is totally different. This is a bone of contention when it comes to the Elzabeth Arden (a.k.a EA) version. Even the fragrance free one has a medicinal scent (total marmite dilemma). I actually like the scent. The Lacura miracle cream is much more floral and doesn’t have any resemblance in scent to the EA one. I personally prefer the EA scent but the Lacura one is definitely less overpowering
The texture again is totally different. Lacura’s one is less thick and a lot less tacky. Much more pleasant to use in my opinion. However, because it isn’t as thick I do feel the EA version is a little more of a protectant and great for adding a protective layer over the likes of blisters and burns. I also think a thicker formula is a little more water resistant so you may need to apply the Lacura one more often.
Although the Lacura Miracle Cream looks a bit smaller the two bottles above are the same size (50ml). Both have similar packaging too. Even the design looks pretty spot on.
The price is totally different. Lacura’s Miracle Cream is €4.99 and the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream can be up to €34 depending on where you buy it.
Overall, I am massively impressed with Aldi’s Lacura Miracle Cream, not even just because of the price. I think it is a very decent, high quality formulation. I’d say the EA version is of a higher quality and I do feel that if you have really chapped skin or for use on burns I think this one would work best. But for dry skin, lips and other general skin concerns I think Lacura’s one is a great option. I would rate this a 4 out of 5.
So, what do you think? Will you be running out to get yourself one? I would recommend going to your local Aldi a.s.a.p. It doesn’t seem to be a part of the regular beauty stock. I found mine in one of the baskets.
So now for the good bit. Here are my top 5 ways to use a product like this, no matter what brand you choose.
As a skin hydrator– I love to use this on my lips several times a day to keep them moisturised. It also leaves a beautiful sheen to the lips so not only are they soft but they look fab too. Applying a small amount to any dry or flaking areas of skin will instantly give that area back life and moisture. I often use this on my ankles, knees and elbows after a bath as an extra little treat.
If you suffer from dry areas on the face, apply a tiny amount of this (seriously a tiny amount because a little goes a very long way) and leave it to soak into the skin for 5 minutes. Pat off excess with a tissue, apply your makeup as normal and you will notice a huge difference in how your makeup sits on your skin.
To condition my brows and lashes– At night or on makeup free days I like to apply this to my lashes and my brows. It adds nourishment to them. I feel like they look healthier the mornings after I have used this. It gives a beautiful gloss to lashes making you look like you are wearing a small amount of mascara. I use this during the day also to keep my brows in place as an alternative to brow wax.
As a mini manicure for your hands– I always have a small tube of this with me at all times and regularly use this as a hand cream and at the same time a cuticle cream to keep my hands looking their best. Remember, only use a tiny amount of this as it can be quiet oily.
As a healing cream for any irritated or burned skin– This works wonders on healing up any burns or irritation on the skin. It’s also super for bringing on holidays to help calm sunburn or any insect bites. A must for all you parents out there!! Just a word of warning this will only help calm and heal the skin after burning, it won’t actually treat the burn!
To give you glowing, shimmering skin– If I am opting for natural looking makeup I apply a small amount of this under my brow bone and on the top of my cheek bones to add a glow to the skin. Again this is great for applying during the day when you are on holidays to give you that beach goddess look. Always make sure you have a high SPF on the area though to avoid over exposure to the sun.
When I am getting my pins out I like to use this down the centre of the back of my legs. It adds a glow to the skin which works wonders for making those pins look thinner and longer. I also use this technique down the back and front of my arms to slim them. It also looks great on the collar bone to add a nice glow. Go the extra mile and add a light dusting of shimmer powder over the area. Or, mix it with the cream before applying to the skin to give you a beautiful shimmer.
Sounds like a wonder product right? I genuinely really love this type of product and use them daily. I am so glad I found the Aldi version and can’t wait to see what else the brand have in store for us.
Thanks for stopping by for a waffle.

March 31, 2018 at 7:07 pmI tried it and agreed with your review. I still will keep an 8 hour cream for at times when i have very dry lips which I seem to get over winter and clears them up very quickly. But I certainly will buy the aldi miracle cream again. Thanks for the review.
