Building Self Confidence

I know this may seem like an impossible task at times but self confidence is one of those things that grows stronger the more we focus on and practice it.

Before we start I do just want to make the clear distinction between self confidence and self worth. Confidence is more about believing in your ability and having faith in yourself. Whereas self esteem is more focused on how you see yourself on a whole. Confidence therefore can be improved by incorporating some simple yet effective tools and techniques. Self Worth can be a little more challenging (but not impossible) and we will definitely tackle this one in the future.

1). Educate, Educate, Educate

Education and knowledge helps you to understand something more and as a result you will feel more confident in your ability to do something. This doesn’t necessarily mean formal education. It can just mean thoroughly understanding something which in turn gives you more clarity and hence more confidence.
Warning: sometimes we may have lots of knowledge but no confidence in applying it. That’s where experience will kick in.

2). What we practice grows stronger

The more we do something, the better we become at it and the more we gain confidence in doing this. This links really well with education. We may know the theory around something but not have the confidence to apply this so the more we work on practicing these skills, the more we will feel equipped to use them in a confident manner.

3). Be Prepared

Have you ever came out of a meeting or off a call with someone and you were raging with yourself because you stumbled, blubbered or even made mistakes. Prep is key in anything you do. Do what you have to do to get enough prep in. Then, during the meeting you will feel more confident as its not the first time you seen the information and afterwards you will feel more confident because you were successful.

The results of being prepared is 2 fold. Firstly you will feel confident in the moment and then afterwards you will feel confident doing the same thing again in the future.

4). What you give out, you get back

The more positive you are towards a situation, the more positivity will come back to you. So, the message is be kind to yourself, be gentle and know that even when we make mistakes there is learning in that.

Visualising the outcome of a situation in a positive manner will allow you to be more calm entering the situation and will allow you to manifest the outcome of what you want from the situation. I have found this to be amazing throughout the years. Write it down, draw it out and be specific. What outcome do you want from this situation? Then, the key is, let the universe take care of it and bring back the best outcome for you. Even if its not the one you expected. It is 100% the right one!!

5). Reflection

Take note and celebrate even the smallest of wins. The smaller wins, add to bigger ones and as a result you will feel even more confident.

6). Find a mentor

Find someone you admire. Don’t copy them but try to understand how they do certain things. Reach out, ask them how they gained confidence. They might be kind enough to give you some insight into how they do things. You will often find that even the most ‘confident’ people have their own self doubt. Maybe this will make you realise. ‘If they can do it, so can I’.

Just remember to be authentic to yourself at all times

7). Surround yourself with cheerleaders

Surround yourself with those people that will cheer you on and that will not feel intimidated by your success. Also, reducing contact with people that drag your confidence down is a must when trying to build confidence.

I really hope you found this post helpful. Don’t get me wrong. This won’t change over night. It takes practice but I have no doubt that introducing these tips can only benefit you on your path to a more confident, vibrant you.

I also have a video on my Instagram IGTV if you want to check that out too.

While you are here, don’t forget to check out my previous post which includes 5 simple steps to ‘switch off’ after a hard day or week. You can check it out here.

Have a super day and let me know if you have any questions.

Lots of Love
