Dermalogica Precleanse

Double Cleansing is something I have done for years! It has become a huge craze in the last few years but I do think it is here to stay! Why? Because it simply works!!

The idea of a double cleanse is firstly to remove and break down the surface oils and dirt (including makeup) on the skin before using your skin specific cleanser to actually cleanse the skin.

I have tried lots of different products as a first step in the double cleanse process and I keep coming back to Precleanse by Dermalogica. I genuinely cannot find anything as good.

Precleanse is a hydrophilic formula which means that it likes water and as a result will attract water to the skin as opposed to stripping the skin of hydration. It is an oil based cleanser so it lifts oils, dirt, debris and makeup extremely well which allow other cleansers and products to penetrate deeper into the skin.

Because it is packed with beautiful oils such as olive and apricot it smells so gentle making it a pleasure to use. It is formulated without any artificial fragrances so hopefully this is something that will not irritate your skin. I have had no issue with irritations which is something I would suffer from with some products.

I find this such a simple, fuss free product to use. I simply apply to a dry face, including my eyes. Rub it in for a minute or so, add some water to my skin to emulsify this further and then remove with a face mitt or cloth. I then cleanse with my preferred cleanser. It removes all my daily makeup but if I have really heavy liner or mascara on I tend to use a separate eye makeup remover because I find if this gets too deep into my eye it can be uncomfortable.

This is suitable for all skin types but it is exceptional for oily and congested skins as it works to remove some of the oily build up in the pores, making the skin clearer without over drying.

I love the pump bottle. I only use one large pump for my entire face. You can imagine this lasts an age because you use so little each time.

This product is a complete staple in my collection and something I will use for years to come because I have not found a replacement for it, even though I have tried so many alternatives.

Dermalogica can vary in price depending on where you buy from but for a 150ml pump bottle it usually ranges from €35 to €44. I tend to buy mine from millies as I find them to be the best priced. This formula is available in handy face wipes if you prefer them. I just don’t like to use wipes at all on my skin.

A little note before I leave y’all. You know those foundation and liner brushes that no matter what you do the product just won’t wash out for you? Use precleanse to wash it and you will have spotless brushes in no time!

Have you tried precleanse or have you found an alternative product that you would recommend? Do you double cleanse daily? I do, even if I am not wearing makeup.

Have a lovely day

I used to precleanse a lot but found it dried my skin out – weird considering I’ve very oily skin. I used Úna Brennan’s Vitamin C Cleansing Oil

That’s a pity. But good to hear your experience as I didn’t have the same results. I am on the Una Brennan one myself now. Was looking for a less expensive version for my readers ☺
