You probably all know by now that I am a qualified nail technician and nail educator. I have tried so many different nail brands both professional and non professional so I have an idea of what I am looking for when it comes to nail products.
The nail industry was taken over in the last number of years by gel polishes and long wear nail polishes. Some I adore and some not so much.
I tried essence the gel nail polish on myself a while back and I fell in love instantly. Seriously I couldn’t believe these polishes were only €1.80 each. They perform so well and tick all the right boxes in regards to what I look for in a polish.
They are so easy to apply. Their thicker viscosity makes them easy to manoeuvre around the nail and place just where you want them.
They dry really quickly.
The brush is slightly rounded at the end to make cuticle work a doddle.
The polish dries to a really high gloss finish, even without a top coat. When the top coat is applied it genuinely resembles a gel polish manicure.
Once applied correctly they last on average a week on people’s nails. On me they last a little shorter because I constantly have my hands in water and I use acetone and nail polish remover a lot.
They have a decent range of colours and the colour pay off is exceptional so they only need two coats, some of them would forgive you for only doing one coat if you were in a rush.
I would recommend capping the free edge of your nails on every coat with these to avoid peeling or chipping but I’d recommend this for any polish.
My favourite shades are (above from left to right):
64 island hopping – dark teal shade
78 royal blue -navy shade
87 gossip girl -medium grey shade
11 4 ever young – medium reddish coral
73 more than a feeling – deep berry shade
67 love me like you do – a dark cool toned mauve
13 forgive me – pastel rose pink
24 indian summer – pastel peach shade
I honestly cannot say anything bad about these polishes. They are by far my favourite polish of the moment and I would absolutely recommend them especially for such a tiny price. A 4.5/5 rating for this product.
Essence makeup is available in Penneys and selected pharmacies nationwide.
Have you tried these out yet? I bet you want to now.
Happy Shopping
