Have you heard of Misslyn Cosmetics yet? These are definitely a new brand to me but something that I was intrigued to try. The fantatstic packaging of the #PopUpYourMakeup collection had me curious. Could something this cute and yet inexpensive be good quality makeup? Read on to hear my rambles on the products I tried!
I did get in contact with Misslyn to see if they would be interested in me reviewing their products for my followers and they kindly sent me three products from the range.
Let me show you what I have been playing with for the past few weeks.
Starting off with this cute little Beach Please! Bronzing and Contour powder in the shade Holiday Hooray. This is a matte bronzer and available in 4 shades. I have the lightest one and it adds lovely warmth to my skin with no orange tone. It is cool toned so perfect for a light contour too. I was genuinely surprised at the high quality, blendability and long lasting results of this bronzer. These are €8.40 each for 6 grams of product. Misslyn also mention that these powders are great for sensitive skins.
I also tried the Treat Me Sweet Powder Blush in the shade Be My Blush Crush. This is a pinkish brown shade. It is quiet pigmented so in order for this to work for my skin I had to apply it sparingly. But, like the bronzer the quality is excellent. This shade has a slight shimmer to it that looks very flattering on the cheeks. It costs the same as the bronzer above.
For everyday use, I would like to try some of the other shades as I didn’t feel like this one suited me as well as others would but I cannot fault the quality. I prefer more colour to my cheeks for during the day but I have worn this at night with a smoky eye and it looks well because it gives a very nude look to the skin so its nice for when you want to tone down your cheeks slightly! It is as good as some other higher end products I have tried.
The powders are packaged in a hard, cardboard, booklet design and as you can see they contain a decent size mirror. The cadboard most definitely isn’t flimsy though. They remind me a lot of the benefit blush and bronzer packaging except with a smaller amount of product! They are very sleek and so I think they are brilliant for travel and for popping in your handbag!
The last product I tried was the Stay With Me, Matte Fixing Spray. This is €8.90 for a 50ml bottle. I absolutely adore this product. I don’t feel it leaves my face matte though. In fact I use this product to remove the powdery look from my skin after I have applied my full face. This definitely makes my makeup look better and last longer. I use this not only to set my makeup but I also spray my brush before I blend out my under eye concealer and it works a treat! The spray is also nice and fine and has a constant spray so I have no issues with it spraying heavier in one area of the face or even worse, not spraying at all.
I do wish it was a larger bottle! I am out of this product already and am only using it a few weeks. Compared to other brands on the market this is a tad bit more expensive on a ml to ml basis but I honestly do think it is worth it. I am going to repurchase it soon myself.
The artwork on the products is so cute. The retro, pop-art, bright designs really appeal to me. Do you like them?
There are lots of other products in the Misslyn range and some of them don’t look as fancy as these ones but I am curious to try more from the brand. They haven’t disappointed me thats for sure!
In conclusion I think they are a great, inexpensive alternative to some high end brands and I know I will be mentioning these a lot more in the future.
Misslyn is sold in selected pharmacies and on BeautyBay.Com .
Have you tried anything from the brand? Will you be giving them a go after my review?
Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day
