Where do I begin? I spent many weeks now debating with myself as to whether or not I should treat myself to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette. It wasn’t the fact that I didn’t think I would like it or use it because I knew damn well I would do both very well but the €69 price tag was making me wonder was it really worth the cash. Anyway. on a whim I decided to buy it and the minute I got it home to try it out all that nonsense about it not being worth the cash went out the window. I love Hourglass and admit that I love expensive makeup just as much as the next person and sometimes I want things just because they look oh so pretty but believe me when I say this is not only one of the most beautiful looking makeup products in my collection but also one that we will get soooo much use out because each blush is simply divine. Seriously? How could you not love this???!!!There are three blushes in this palette. The idea of these blushes is that the blush colours are mixed with one of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders to give your cheeks a certain glow depending on which powder it is mixed with. Great idea right? So not only do they give you a beautiful pop of colour but they give you a beautifully light face that all your friends will be lusting after. All are equally as beautiful and I will happily use each one of them.
Let me show you:
First up is the oh so pretty Luminous Flush which is a gorgeous rosy pink with some champagne highlight running through it thanks to the luminous light powder. This gives your cheeks that just pinched look with a dash of luminosity, almost like you are in a very beautiful candle lit room. Sounds a little unrealistic??? It really isn’t, they give you a glow like no other blush or highlight!
Next in the palette is Incandescent Electra which is a nice peach blush which when combined with Incandescent light powder gives you a beautiful highlight to your cheeks. I use this on my cheeks if I want a natural healthy look without too much colour and I also apply it on the tops of my cheek bones to add a beautiful radiance to the skin if I am wearing a different blush. Pale gals this is the perfect blush for you! It’s gorgeous paired with Mac’s Melba blush. This colour is limited edition to this palette while the others are available to purchase separately.
Last in the palette is Mood Exposure. If I had to choose this would be my favourite shade. It is a soft plum shade that adds so much warmth and brightness to your face. This is probably down to it being mixed with mood exposure which in my eyes will brighten even the dullest of complexions. This is the perfect Autumn/Winter shade as it goes so well with berry lips and copper eyes. I think this is the one I will be reaching for most frequently.
Overall, I cannot say anything bad about this palette. The blushes blend effortlessly and there is nothing like them out there at the moment, well at least as far as I can see. In my eyes it is worth every cent of the high end price tag. Each blush is 3.3g which is reasonably good compared to the full size products which is 4.2g.
I find these blushes are so unique compared to others I have tried. According to Hourglass themselves these blushes contain Photoluminescent Technology which exhibits both depth and dimension to the skin which is why they look so different on the skin compared to similar products. They give an amazing glow to the skin but yet do not look shimmery in any way.
Each blush is hand made and mixed with the ambient powders to create a blend that is unique to each individual blush so no two can be the same which for me is the fun part as you know you have a one off makeup item….sorry that is just the crazed makeup lover in me.
Everything from the luxurious and elegant packaging to the way these airy, lightweight powders dust on to your face creating an unmistakable glow ,there is nothing quiet like them and I really think we should all have this palette in our makeup collections.
I purchased mine from Space NK on Grafton street and it was €69. It’s also available here to buy for £56 and they deliver to Ireland.
Have you tried these blushes or any products from the Hourglass range? What did you think of them? Let me know below or Tweet me @Adorn_ie.
Thanks for stopping by and Hope you enjoyed this little piece of heaven.
Have a great day
