Full, matte lips have become a huge thing in the beauty industry in the last year or so. We all want that perfect pout and matte lippie sure does bring it to a whole new level. Pairing matte lips with dewy skin is here to stay so if you want to be on trend and looking delish then I have just the products for you.
I don’t tend to like matte lips on me for some reason. It doesn’t look great but I wanted to give it another go all the while trying out some darker shades, that again don’t suit me. I heard rave reviews about the Meet Matte Hughes from The Balm and when I seen they had the cutest little kit of minis I had to give it a go. What a great way to try out a brand, formulation or colour that you haven’t tried before!
This kit contains six 1.2ml liquid lipsticks ranging from a lovely neutral nude to a deep red. Let’s take a look, from bottom to top in below photo:
Charming is a rich mauve shade
Sincere is similar to Charming but a lighter shade with some warmer undertones
Committed is a beautiful pinky peach nude
Dotting is a warm orangey peach shade
Dedicated is a stunning deep berry red
Loyal is a deep classic red
My absolute favourites are Sincere, Committed and Dedicated.
The thing I noticed about all of these was that for the most part the formulation and pigmentation was consistent throughout the six shades meaning that no matter what colour you choose you are sure to get the same high quality.
I have to say I adore these!! They are high quality, not drying on my lips and last a very decent few hours before fading away. I do prep my lips well once a week by exfoliating with a lip scrub (or an old toothbrush) and lots of balm. I prep with balm before each use remove the balm before applying these. I also always line my lips after applying these as my lip line tends to disappear with matte shades, no matter what brand I use.
They are all completely matte, drying quiet quickly after application. However, I do feel they give you enough time before completely drying to correct and perfect your application.
I also really love the smell of them. Vanilla Mint is how I would describe it. Totally refreshing and down right fabulous even after they dry in.
The packaging, like all products from The Balm is super fun, flirtatious and so so cute. The packaging of the full size products is even nicer, if that’s possible!
What more can I say, these little beauties are a must for matte makeup lovers. You won’t be disappointed. I’m sure of it!
I bought my little mini’s from Cloud10Beauty where you can buy the full sizes too. The kit set me back €28.95 and I think its worth every cent. The larger, full size lippies cost €16.95 each. There are lots of other stockists throughout the country but if you are a stockist of The Balm or know somewhere that stocks it please feel free to comment below with details. The more info we all have the better because trust me, we all need these in our lives!
You have probably guessed but these beauties get a full Adorn.ie rating of 5/5.
Have you tried them or have you plans to now after reading my rave review? What is your favourite shade?
